Thirty-three of our tamariki have been practicing for a long time, preparing to join twenty other schools at the Michael Fowler Centre (MFC) in Wellington as part of the ArtSplash choir. Last Monday, all their hard work was enjoyed by whānau at the MFC. They were AMAZING, making themselves, their whānau and Waitohu so proud. Ngā mihi to all our students who lived our Language of Learning words collaboration | mahi tahi and excellence | tararuatanga. What an amazing experience for all who were involved. Ka rawe Waitohu tamariki. Ngā mihi nui to Kirstin Scott and Delia Glogowski for their aroha and expertise in enabling our tamariki to have this experience. Ngā mihi also to all whānau who were able to support their tamariki during the day in Wellington and on the night.
KĀPITI LIBRARIES POETRY COMPETITION OPEN MIC NIGHT Last Friday night, over sixty of our students attended the Kāpiti Libraries Poetry Open Mic event at Paraparaumu Library. A number had the opportunity to courageously share their poems in front of a large live audience. The auaha | creativity on display was wonderful. Waitohu tamariki made themselves, their whānau and Waitohu so proud. Congratulations to all students who wrote poems and were prepared to read them - tumeke. Ngā mihi to Jason Ward for co-ordinating this great opportunity. Ngā mihi also to all whānau who were able to support their tamariki at the library. Due to large numbers of participants on the evening, not all Waitohu students who had prepared, got the opportunity to share their poems. We will be holding an 'Open Mic Poetry Sharing' at school for whānau and school friends to enjoy hearing the poems one afternoon before the end of the term.We will let whānau know times once confirmed.
