School finishes for the year next Friday 12 December at 12.30pm. There will be no bus at this time.
It is hard to believe the end of the year is almost here. Right throughout the year, there have been so many highlights and neat moments shared by the students, staff, parents and friends of Waitohu School. Our very genuine ngā mihi to all who make our school the very special place it is.
Special thanks to our graduating Year 6 students. You have contributed greatly to our place during your years at Waitohu School. We wish you all that is good, as you make the exciting step to college. We look forward to hearing of your successes over the years ahead. Be strong, and take pride in who you are and where you come from. We will miss you.
Ngā mihi also to the parents who have their ‘youngest’ child graduating from Waitohu School. Many of you have been greatly involved and active in helping provide rich opportunities for ‘our’ children. Your support has been greatly appreciated.
DISCO DAY – MONDAY 8 DECEMBER
This Monday 8 December we are having a Disco Day. We want as many students who would like to join in the fun of dancing, to be able to. Our senior syndicate students (Rooms 3, 4, 5, 6 & 12) will have their Disco between 11.30am and 12.40pm. Our junior syndicate students (Rooms 1, 2, 8, 10 & 11) will be able to enjoy this fun between 1.40pm and 2.40pm.
As always, the hall blinds will be closed, the disco ball will be up and dancing games organised. Each student will be ‘gifted’ a small bag of treats to enjoy. Coming dressed up or in bare feet, are both perfect!
In keeping with the ‘spirit’ of Christmas we will be collecting a can/packet of food (if you are able to donate) which will be given to our local Ōtaki food bank. Parents who would like a smile are most welcome to join us for the fun.
At 2.00pm our annual water fight will be held for any Year 5 & 6 students who wish to partake! Togs and a towel are required to be able to join the fun!!
SCHOOL PATROL SUPERVISION
This year Vicki Cracknell, Niki Hurliman, Emma Cracknell, Ben Tennant and Sam Bell have kindly provided supervision of our Te Manuao Road pedestrian crossing between 8.35am – 9.00am. This is a really important safety role within our school. Ngā mihi nui Vicki, Niki, Emma, Ben and Sam for providing a service to our students that so directly impacts upon their safety. On behalf of all the parents whose children use the crossing each morning, a huge and very genuine thank you. Thank you also to our patrol students who have been so faithful, through all types of weather, to provide a safe crossing for their peers. You are STARS.
YEAR 6 LIBRARY BOOK DONATIONS
In the past, Year 6 students leaving Waitohu School have donated books, or money to purchase books, to the school library. Over the years we have greatly appreciated this generous contribution to our library. Students wishing to do this can drop them into the office before Monday 8 December.
