POSSIBLE STRIKE ACTION - THURSDAY 23 OCTOBER

You may have seen or heard in the media information about an NZEI Union member strike next Thursday 23rd October. This is not yet official as the formal notice has not been presented to school Boards, but an informal notice has been made. If it is confirmed that NZEI Union members strike on Thursday 23 October school will be closed on that day. I will inform whānau as soon as I know.

KATIHIKU MARAE - SCHOOL VISIT - TUESDAY 21 OCTOBER

This Tuesday 21 October our whole school will be visiting Katihiku Marae for the morning. Students will be travelling to and from the marae by bus. Whānau are welcome to join us at the marae for the pōwhiri at 10.00am.
Our gratitude to Katihiku Marae for making this wonderful learning experience possible.
Please note this visit is weather dependent. On Tuesday the front of our school website will confirm if our special visit is going ahead.

50 TICKET RAFFLE - SIGNED 2024 HURRICANES JERSEY

Caleb Delaney, current Hurricanes loose forward and lock has very generously gifted Waitohu School with a signed 2024 Hurricanes jersey. We would love this gift to go to a person who loves the Hurricanes, while at the same time being able to support our tamariki at Waitohu. We think a '50 Ticket Raffle' is a win-win way to do this. Tickets are $10 each to support our tamariki and also provide a great chance of winning. Christmas is coming, the time for giving gifts ......... are you someone or do you know someone who would really value having this awesome jersey? Please, through your social media contacts, let others know of this opportunity.
Buy a ticket - it is as simple as emailing office@waitohu.school.nz to let us know you've deposited $$ into our school account for the ticket(s) and we will email you back with your number(s). You can of course also just come into the school office, we have eftpos available. This '50 Ticket Raffle' closes on Friday 12 December (or earlier if all the tickets are sold) in time for Christmas wrapping and gifting!!

Scholastic Lucky Book Club Offer 7 2025 orders are due by Monday 20 October. The online ordering system now available is explained in the brochure or bring in your order and correct cash to the office.

WAITOHU SCHOOL FIREWORKS EXTRAVAGANZA – FRIDAY 7 NOVEMBER – HARUĀTAI PARK – 6.30PM

Our fireworks are going to happen - Yes, TUMEKE, Yee hah, KA RAWE, Whoop Whoop.

EVERYONE please put Friday 7 November in your diaries and let family and friends know. Our wonderful Home and School Association are working hard planning and organising this spectacular event. We will need lots of helpers to make this the special night that it has been, for over 30 years.

Helpers: PLEASE seriously consider how you may help. We need lots of helpers to make this a success – many hands make light work! Please read the ‘Helpers List’ below and email office@waitohu.school.nz | ring 06 364 8272 | or pop into the office to let us know where you can help.

Dessert Tent: Once again we are looking for support - both home bakers and ingredients! If you are able to do some baking for the dessert tent please contact Andy Paroli on 027 370 4073. We also need families to assist us in reducing our costs by contributing to the ingredients needed for the delicious ‘Dessert Tent’ goodies. You may be able to donate a packet of biscuits or perhaps a pound of butter. If you are able to, please simply ring the school office on 364 8272 and talk to Sheralee, Paula or Sara. We can confirm whether we still need it and it will save us getting too many of the same item – thanks. Your child can drop the item(s) off at the school office. It would be much appreciated if your whānau were able to provide something from the 'Dessert List' below:

Again this year purchasing tickets prior to the night will be cheaper than at the gate. Pre purchase is $5 per adult or child - on the night is $8 adults & $5 children (under 5’s are free). We are looking forward to a brilliant night. Tickets will be on sale 2 weeks prior to the Fireworks Extravaganza.
